Faking It

Hello again,

Recently I was on a really busy, crowded train (yes, I am one of those morons who goes to the Christmas Markets on Black Friday). In amongst all the hustle and bustle was a young girl - I would say about 7 or 8. she had some scraps of paper and a pen and was drawing and writing on her knee. She kept talking to her mother, across the aisle, about her make believe writings and drawings.
Firstly, she pretended she was a teacher marking work and then she pretended she worked in an office. She kept saying things like "Look Mum. Look what a mess George has made of his homework. What shall we say to him?"

It dawned on me that in her world of make believe, she was incredibly confident. I didn't know whether she was pretending at that too or whether she was just a confident little girl. Far more confident than I will ever be.

I don't know whether the world has changed somewhat and now there is a young generation of confident go-getters out there or whether it is just a complete personality thing but I completely admired her.

However, if she was simply pretending at the confidence element too, that's just as brilliant also. Perhaps we should all take a little leaf out of her book and fake a bit of self belief ever once in a while. Arrogance of course is rude but confidence in a naive, innocent way can be a beautiful thing.

Speak soon,

L xx
