Be Kind.

Hello again,

It’s weird what happens when you aren’t really looking. What changes and moves without any comprehension.

November Favourites

Hello again,

Here are my November favourites -

Beauty

I know it's a proper old school-y classic but this month I've been loving the Benefit High Beam Highlighter. (£19.50) I rediscovered an old sample size and immediately went out and grabbed the full sized jobby. I just love how it highlights (funny that!) me in all the right places without being overtly glittery or tacky.

Weekly Round Up #2

Hello again,

What have we been up to this week?

1 + 1

Hello again,

When I think about my childhood, and how it was made up – in terms of the actual family unit and also emotionally – in my head, it’s the complete norm. As aren’t all our childhoods? But the truth is perhaps it wasn’t quite the norm.
There is the age old argument of that there isn’t such a thing as the ‘norm’ but someone, somewhere dreamt up the 2.4 children scenario and really we all do still hold this ideal as a ‘normal’ family.

Verso Day Cream and Super Eye Serum

Hello again,

As part of a Cult Beauty Goody Bag, I came across the Verso range and fell in love. I so sparingly used the sample size I had of the Verso Day Cream and adored the way it sank into my sink and was the perfect base for my make up.

My Daily Organisation Tips

Hello again,

I thought I'd chat a bit about the tools and techniques I use to organise myself, The Babe, Mr B, work and the house.

I've always been a bit of an organisation and stationary fanatic and so I have various notebooks / diaries to help me out.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette Review

Hello again,

I have been harping on for so long about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette.

This palette is like crack to me. I love it with every fibre of my being. Dramatic I know. But trust me, it's love.

Lets Get Physical

Hello again,

In exactly 92 days (not that I’m counting) Mr B and I are going to Las Vegas for a strictly parents-only trip. 5 days of eating, drinking, buffets, brunches, cocktails, pool side lounging…calories, weight. So from this point onwards, I am taking action!

I have built a plan. Yep, all good changes start with a plan.

July Favourites

Hello again,

Here are a few of my top picks for what I have been loving in July.

Beauty

A good friend asked for a good mid coverage foundation recommendation this month and I immediately thought of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua which is a gorgeous, illuminating, lightweight foundation which gives a brilliant coverage but looks completely natural too. I wear it almost daily at the mo so deffo a top pick.

Hair

This month has been an EXTREMELY bold month for me in terms of hair. As a hair dye virgin, I really took the bull by the horns with my new YOLO attitude (more about that in a later post) this month and did an at home ombre kit. In fact I did it twice. I was a bit hesitant the first time and decided to wash it off before the allotted time so I went back in a couple of days later and really went to town. I’ve been to the hairdressers since and she didn’t completely laugh in my face which I always nice! I am SO pleased with the results and saved myself a tidy sum at the hair salon. I used the Loreal Wild Ombre Effects 01 kit and will do a full review on it if ya fancy?

Clothing

Nothing really new this month but I have been enjoying slipping back into my work clothes after returning from maternity leave (more about that in my upcoming Mini Series). A great wave of panic ensued when I thought about zipping up those work dresses but luckily all that running about after The Babe has caused me to drop a few pounds and I may be bold enough to say that they fit better than before.

Baby

For this month it has to be the Next sale! There were some absolute gems in the sale which I had been eyeing up for a while. I have a Next account so I was up bright and early one Thursday morning with my VIP slot securing some cute pieces for The Babe.

TV

For a little light relief, we have been loving Modern Family. I really thought I was going to hate it when some friends recommended it as I’m not a major fan of the cheesy American sit coms, but it is brilliant for some quick laughs and easy watching. The absolute gem of a character is Cam with his brilliant facial expressions and quick one liners.

Music

For personal reasons, music has caused a great wave of emotions for me this month. In particular ‘The Best of Fleetwood Mac’. It has so many songs that you didn’t realise they sang and is perfect for blasting out in the car and having a good old sing song to.

Fitness

The gym! We debated for a long while about joining a local health club. It is amazing; a member’s only pool, a leisure pool with slides, classes, lux changing rooms, a free crèche and just a ooze of luxury and calm. Yes, it is eye wateringly expensive but we convinced ourselves it would be life changing, and in some ways it has been. I am enjoying my unique training programme whilst knowing The Babe is being well looked after and having fun. We are enjoying as a family taking The Babe swimming and to the soft play area. Whilst Mr B is enjoying early morning swims and late night weight training.

Random

Family. As a collective, we've been through some tough times of late, so just hanging out, laughing and having good times are all a brilliant favourite of mine.

Last week I spoke about my weekly skincare routine and I thought today I would complete the chat with my morning skincare routine.

Venus vs Mars

Hello again,

Recently I had an interesting discussion about gender, equality and positive discrimination. We were discussing mostly about the roles set for the genders and whether we should be positively discriminating based on gender stereotypes.

Step-by-Step Evening Skincare Routine for Entire Week

Hello again,

When I decided that I really needed to up my skincare game, I was a little clueless as to what exactly I should be doing. I did a little looking around the internet but couldn't find that one place where everything was put together for me in a step-by-step way with a little reason for each. After much reading and investigating, I put together the below for me to follow on a weekly basis to ensure I'm getting all the right stuff on my face at the right time.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Review

Hello, again.

I thought I'd do a little review on a product I have really been loving recently which is the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara (£19.50).

I had been reading bits and bobs about the upcoming launch of this around and about the internet (when Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends said it was a hit, I was all over it) and was eagerly awaiting it's release.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

Hello, again.

I have taken a little leave of absence from blogging recently. I suppose life got a little in the way, but I am back and raring to go. I have lots of exciting, new post ideas in the mix and I'm looking forward to hitting the ground running.

The Butt Of Ones Jokes

Hello again,

I recently remembered a time from my childhood where my Mum was telling friends an embarrassing story about me (I stripped completely naked in McDonalds) and I burst into tears for 2 reasons.

1)I didn't actually remember what she was talking about and 2) I was deeply embarrassed.

Nightmare In The Suburbs

Hello again,

The other night I was having a nightmare. One of those that you wake up in a sweat and you are almost too scared to reach out and put the bedside light on even though you really need to to make sure a killer isn't at the end of your bed.

Stuck In The Middle With You

Hello again,

Recently I was in a situation where I was in the back of my 'family friendly' car with the babe and a family member. I was sat behind the driver, the babe in the middle and the other behind the passenger. It occurred to me that this seemed something of quite a significance. Me and this other had always been friendly but perhaps not that close. In previous times, we would probably have sat in the back, poles apart, the middle seat unoccupied. A great gap. Now, in this moment we were both entirely focused on the beautiful creature between us and each held an opposing hand, cooing and laughing.
