Hello again,
I thought I'd chat a bit about the tools and techniques I use to organise myself, The Babe, Mr B, work and the house.
I've always been a bit of an organisation and stationary fanatic and so I have various notebooks / diaries to help me out.
Firstly I have small, day to view diary in my bag at all times (a bit like this one from Paperchase), this allows me to know instantly if people ask when we are free. In here I write all our plans and appointments and special events and birthdays.
Each Sunday I like to look at the week ahead; what we've got coming up, what we need to do and make some more detailed plans. Sometimes if I have loads and loads to fit into one day, I will make a plan on the notes app on my phone of the general order I should do things so I don't end up having to drive back and forth to places.
In terms of meals, we use a Paperchase meal planner like this one to plan out our week's meals on a Sunday for the week ahead. You may think this is boring and not spontaneous but we were wasting so much money on buying food which when we got home realised didn't actually make up any realistic meals. Throughout the week I make a note on my phone of anything we run out of and add it to the list when I'm about to do the big shop.
Talking about finances, I have a very substantial and extensive family financial planning spreadsheet on my computer which I update on a weekly basis. I like to know exactly how much money we have, what our savings are looking like and plan for events in the future.
Sometimes it seems like a lots of faffing and work to plan in this way but with such busy lives and so much going on, for me it's important to write it down in this way to make sure I'm not missing anything or letting anyone down.
How do you plan? Is there any planners you have which make life infinitely easier?
Speak soon,
L xxx
